PLA Metallic Filament

PLA Metallic filament uses reflective colour pigments blended into a standard PLA base to give prints a brushed or polished metal look straight off the printer. It prints on any FDM printer at normal PLA temperatures, and we currently stock nine finishes, from Gold, Rose Gold and Champagne Gold through Copper, Brass and Aluminium to Deep Blue, Frosted Bronze and Aurora Green, all in 1.75mm and held locally in Australia.

Printer Compatibility and Settings

Our 1.75mm PLA Metallic runs on any FDM printer that handles standard PLA, including Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality and Anycubic machines. Treat it like regular PLA:

  • Nozzle: 200 to 215°C, the same range as standard PLA
  • Bed: whatever your usual PLA plate settings are, no changes needed
  • Nozzle wear: a standard nozzle is fine for occasional printing. If it becomes a regular part of your rotation, a hardened nozzle is a sensible long-term choice, the same advice we'd give for any pigmented or filled filament
  • Cooling: keep your normal PLA cooling settings, it helps the reflective surface stay consistent

Picking the Right Metallic Tone

With nine finishes in the range, here is a quick way to think about them:

  • Gold, Champagne Gold and Rose Gold: warmer tones, popular for trophies, awards and jewellery pieces
  • Copper, Brass and Frosted Bronze: earthy metallics with a slightly softer shimmer, good for props and rustic decor
  • Aluminium and Deep Blue: cooler tones for a more modern or industrial look
  • Aurora Green: the most distinct colour in the range, better suited to a standalone statement piece than colour matching
