Creality 3D Printer Thermal Grease - 12W/mK, 10g
Creality 3D Printer Thermal Grease - 12W/mK, 10g
This Creality thermal grease is a heat-transfer compound for the hot end of your printer, rated at 12 W/m·K and supplied in a 10g tube with a precision nozzle. It fills the microscopic air gaps between mating metal parts so heat moves through the joint instead of stalling at it.
It Is Not a Lubricant
Worth saying plainly, because the name causes genuine confusion: thermal grease does not lubricate anything. It is a thermal interface material, and its only job is conducting heat between two surfaces that are clamped together. If you are after something for lead screws, rails or smooth rods, you want our Lubricating Oil instead. Thermal grease on a lead screw does nothing useful, and lead screw grease inside a heater block is considerably worse.
Why a Hot End Needs It
Two machined metal surfaces never really touch. Up close the contact is a handful of high spots with air trapped in the valleys between them, and air is a poor conductor of heat. That matters most where the heater cartridge sits inside its block. A cartridge with air gaps around it has to run hotter to push the same heat into the nozzle, and that shows up as temperature swinging mid-print, sluggish heat-up, and occasionally a thermal runaway error that ends the job. A thin film of grease displaces the air and closes the gap.
Where to Use It
- Heater cartridge into the heater block. The important one, and the most common cause of unstable hot end temperatures
- Thermistor into the block. Better contact means the temperature the printer reads is closer to the temperature the nozzle is actually at
- Heatbreak into the heatsink and block, for consistent heat transfer across the threaded joint
How to Apply
- Let the hot end cool completely and switch the printer off at the wall
- Clean old compound and residue from both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol
- Apply a thin film. A rice-grain amount is plenty for a heater cartridge, and more is not better
- Reassemble and tighten normally so the surfaces pull properly together
- Keep it away from electrical contacts and connector pins
Specifications
- Thermal conductivity: 12 W/m·K
- Net weight: 10g
- Brand: Creality
- Applicator: tube with precision nozzle tip
Compatibility
Creality branded, but there is nothing printer-specific about it. Any FDM hot end with a cartridge heater and a thermistor benefits, whether that is a Creality, Bambu Lab, Prusa, Voron or something you built yourself.
A 10g tube covers a lot of hot end rebuilds, so it is worth keeping alongside your spare nozzles for the next time you strip things down. Ships fast from our Sydney warehouse with Australia-wide delivery.
