About PLA-Aero Grey (Lightweight PLA)
PLA-Aero Grey is a specialist lightweight PLA filament designed to produce ultra-light 3D prints with a clean neutral grey finish. Unlike most lightweight PLA on the market, it is pre-foamed during manufacture. The foaming is already complete before the filament reaches your printer.
That means it prints with normal settings straight away. There is no foaming temperature to chase and no trial-and-error window to find. Drop the flow ratio and the weight saving is there immediately. At the recommended flow ratio of 0.6, parts come out around 40% lighter than the same model printed in standard PLA.

- Nozzle temperature: 220 to 225°C

Important: do not print this hot
PLA-Aero behaves the opposite way to conventional foaming PLA. Raising the nozzle temperature will not increase foaming. Because the foaming is already done, extra heat only degrades print quality and reduces part strength.
If you have used temperature-activated lightweight PLA before, running this at around 250°C is the single most common cause of poor results. Start at 220 to 225°C.
Adjustment runs downward only. Lowering the nozzle temperature reduces foaming, which you can use to fine-tune density. There is nothing to gain by going up.
Strength
The formula is tuned to hold strength equivalent to standard PLA at the recommended settings, so you get the weight saving without trading away part durability.

Widely used throughout the RC aircraft community, PLA-Aero filament is perfect for wings, fuselages, drone components, scale models and other large lightweight structures where traditional PLA would be unnecessarily heavy. Because the filament is pre-foamed during manufacture, you tune the balance of weight and strength with the flow ratio rather than the nozzle temperature. Lower flow gives a lighter part, and the recommended 0.6 is the tested starting point.
