This DLC hardened steel helical gear kit replaces the drive and idler gears in the Bambu Lab X1, X1C and P1P extruder. The teeth are coated in diamond-like carbon, which keeps them sharp and gripping long after standard gears have started to wear, especially if you print carbon fibre, glass fibre or glow-in-the-dark filament.
Why Upgrade Your Extruder Gears
Extruder gears wear slowly, so you rarely notice it happening. As the teeth lose their bite, the gears start to slip on the filament: you get under-extrusion on fast moves, clicking from the extruder, ground-up filament dust in the toolhead and the occasional failed print for no obvious reason. Abrasive filaments speed this up a lot, because the fibres sand the teeth down every time they pass through.
Hardened steel holds its shape far longer than the stock gears, and the DLC coating adds a slick, very hard outer layer that cuts friction and resists wear. The result is a consistent grip on the filament, steady flow and fewer mystery failures.
Helical Teeth for Smoother Feeding
Helical gears engage gradually along an angled tooth rather than all at once, so they mesh more smoothly and quietly than straight-cut gears. That means more even pressure on the filament, less pulsing in the extrusion and cleaner walls on detailed prints.
