This activated carbon air filter is a replacement for the exhaust filter in Bambu Lab X1 and P1 series printers, including the X1, X1C, X1E and P1S. It sits in the rear vent and scrubs the enclosure air before it is pushed out into your room, with the activated carbon adsorbing the VOCs and odours produced during printing.

Why Replace It?

The filter that shipped with your printer does not last forever. Activated carbon works by trapping fume molecules in its pores, and once those pores are full it stops filtering, even though it looks exactly the same from the outside. Bambu Lab's own guidance is to replace it after around 1440 hours of cumulative print time, roughly 60 full days of printing. If your farm runs daily, that comes around faster than you would think, and the first sign is usually the ABS smell creeping back into the room.

When It Matters Most

  • ABS, ASA, PC and Nylon printing. These high-temperature materials produce the bulk of the VOCs the filter exists to catch
  • Printers in living spaces. If your X1C or P1S sits in a study, garage workshop or spare room rather than a ventilated shed, a fresh filter makes a noticeable difference to odour
  • Enclosed long prints, where fumes have hours to build up inside the chamber

Being upfront: if you only ever print PLA, the filter has an easy life. PLA produces far fewer VOCs than ABS or ASA, so you can stretch the replacement interval. And this is a carbon filter for gases and smells, not a HEPA filter, so it targets odours and VOCs rather than ultrafine particles.

Installation

The swap is tool-free and takes under a minute:

  • Slide the plastic cover off the rear vent
  • Pull the old filter out, wiggling gently if it is snug
  • Push the new filter fully in so the cover sits flush
  • Clip the cover back on

Compatibility

  • Bambu Lab X1 series: X1, X1 Carbon, X1E
  • Bambu Lab P1 series: P1S (and P1P printers fitted with an enclosure kit)

Printing lots of ABS or ASA? Those are the materials that load this filter fastest, so it is worth keeping a spare on the shelf. Ships fast from our Sydney warehouse with Australia-wide delivery.
