BMCU 370C 4-Channel MMU - AMS Lite Alternative for A1
BMCU 370C 4-Channel MMU - AMS Lite Alternative for A1
The BMCU 370C is a four-channel multi-material unit for the Bambu Lab A1 and A1 mini, giving you multi-colour and multi-material printing without buying Bambu's own AMS Lite. It is an open-source design built to behave like an AMS Lite from the printer's point of view, so your existing slicer workflow carries across.
Four Colours Without the AMS Lite Price
Four independent channels feed one hotend, so the printer swaps filament mid-print the same way it would with a genuine AMS Lite. Auto refill is supported, which means a channel that runs out mid-print can hand over to another spool of the same material rather than failing the job. For anyone printing multi-colour models, signage or anything with embedded text, this is the difference between one print and four glued together.
What the 370C Adds
- Bidirectional Hall buffer. The buffer reads filament position with a Hall sensor rather than a mechanical switch, so feeding and retraction are both cushioned. Softer on the filament and easier on the extruder hub
- High-torque gearing. More grip on the filament during loading and unloading, with better motor heat dissipation on long multi-colour jobs
- 370°C rated active motor. The motor assembly is specified to sit near a hot end running high-temperature materials rather than being limited to PLA-range work
- Long-retraction support when filament is cut, which is what keeps swaps clean rather than leaving stubs in the path
Being Upfront About It
This is an open-source, third-party unit, not a Bambu Lab product, and we would rather you know that before you order than after. It is not covered by Bambu Lab support, and setting it up asks more of you than plugging in a genuine AMS Lite: expect to mount it, run the calibration, and in some cases flash firmware. There is an active community around the BMCU with well-maintained firmware if you want to go deeper.
If you want something that works out of the box with zero configuration and full manufacturer support, buy the genuine AMS Lite. If you are comfortable with a bit of setup and want four-channel printing for a lot less, this is a very capable unit.

Designed as an alternative to the AMS Lite, so it suits the A1 series rather than the X1 or P1 machines that use the full-size AMS. If you are unsure whether it suits your setup, message us before ordering and we will check.
Four channels get through filament faster than one, so it is worth stocking up while you are here. Browse our PLA and PETG ranges, both held locally. Ships fast from our Sydney warehouse with Australia-wide delivery.
