This filament tube connector is a push-to-connect straight union for 4mm OD PTFE tube. Push a tube into each end and it joins them into one continuous, sealed filament path. No tools, no fittings to thread, and no glue.

What You Would Use It For

  • Joining the run between an AMS or buffer and the tool head. Mounted at the back of the printer, it turns one long awkward tube into two manageable sections you can disconnect independently
  • Repairing a damaged tube without replacing the whole length. Cut out the kinked or worn section and rejoin the good ends
  • Extending a reverse Bowden run from a drybox or shelf-mounted spool to the printer, joining two shorter lengths into the distance you actually need
  • Making a run serviceable, so pulling the printer out from the wall does not mean unthreading the entire filament path

How It Holds

Inside each end is a stainless grip ring and a seal. Push the tube in and the ring bites gently on the outside of the tube, so pulling on it only makes the grip firmer. To release, press the collet cap in towards the body and pull the tube straight out. The cap end also rotates a full 360 degrees, which matters more than it sounds: as the tool head moves, the tube twists rather than fighting the joint, so nothing works itself loose or kinks at the fitting.

Fitting It Properly

  • Cut the tube square. An angled cut leaves a gap inside the joint where filament can catch, and it is the most common cause of trouble at any coupling
  • Push the tube fully home until it stops. A tube that is only part way in leaves a step for the filament to snag on
  • Give it a firm pull to confirm the grip ring has engaged before you run filament through
  • To remove, press the cap in first. Pulling without releasing the collet will score the tube

Worth Knowing

Any join in a filament path is a place where things can catch if it is not fitted well, so it is worth doing the two minutes of prep properly rather than forcing a rough cut in. Done right the joint is invisible to the filament and completely reliable. Done in a hurry, it is exactly where your next jam happens.
