PTFE tubing, often searched as Teflon tubing or Bowden tube, is the low-friction tube that guides filament through your 3D printer, whether that is a Bowden path from extruder to hotend, a reverse Bowden run from spool to printer, or a feed line out of a drybox. Sold by the metre in white or grey, and shipped as one continuous length, so if you order 3 metres you receive a single 3 metre piece to cut exactly where you need it, not three offcuts.

Why Buy It by the Metre?

Pre-cut tubes never seem to be the length you actually need. Buying a continuous length means:

  • Reverse Bowden runs measured to your setup. Feeding an AMS, a drybox or a wall-mounted spool holder always needs an awkward custom length, and a single uncut piece means no joins for filament to snag on
  • Spares from one purchase. Cut a fresh Bowden tube today and keep the rest on the shelf for the next replacement
  • Multi-printer farms can cut one length down for several machines instead of paying per-tube pricing

Where PTFE Tubing Gets Used

  • Bowden tube replacement on printers like the Ender and Anycubic ranges, where a worn or heat-damaged tube causes under-extrusion and clogs
  • Reverse Bowden feeds keeping filament on a clean, protected path from spool to extruder, especially on enclosed printers
  • Drybox feeding, running filament straight from sealed dry storage into the printer so hygroscopic materials like PETG and Nylon never touch humid air
  • AMS and multi-spool routing where tube length and smooth internals decide how reliably filament loads

Fitting Tips

  • Cut ends square with a sharp blade or tube cutter. An angled cut at the hotend end leaves a gap where molten plastic collects, which is the classic cause of Bowden clogs
  • Push the tube fully home into pneumatic couplings before locking the collet
  • Replace the hotend end of a Bowden tube if it looks browned or chewed, as degraded PTFE grips filament instead of guiding it
