BIQU Panda Edge Magnetic Scraper - CNC Aluminium
BIQU Panda Edge Magnetic Scraper - CNC Aluminium
The BIQU Panda Edge is a CNC-machined aluminium scraper with an SK5 tool steel blade, built for lifting finished prints off the plate without gouging the surface or your knuckles. Two magnets set into the handle mean it lives on the printer rather than at the bottom of a drawer.
Why Not Just Use the Bundled Scraper?
The thin scraper that ships with most printers flexes under load, and that flex is what turns a clean lift into a scratched plate. You push harder, the blade skips, the tip digs in. A rigid machined aluminium body puts your force straight into the edge instead of absorbing it, so the blade goes under the print rather than skating across it.
What Makes It Work
- SK5 tool steel blade. High-carbon tool steel, ground thin at the tip so it slides under a first layer instead of bruising it
- Magnetic storage. Two magnets inset into the back of the handle hold it to the printer frame or any steel surface, so it is within reach at the moment you actually want it
- Screw-retained blade. The blade is held by two screws rather than moulded in place, so a dulled or nicked edge does not mean a new tool. Replacement blades are stocked separately
- Machined finger ledge and grip ribs for a controlled push, without your hand creeping forward onto the edge
- Hanging hole at the tail if you would rather keep it on a hook or lanyard
Getting Prints Off Without Marking the Plate
- Let the plate cool first. Most prints release on their own as the plate contracts, and a cold print lifts with almost no force
- Start at a corner and keep the blade flat against the plate rather than tipped into it
- Push, do not lever. Levering concentrates all the force on one point of the tip, and that is what marks PEI
- Take the plate off the printer where you can, so you are not pushing against the bed and gantry
On flexible spring steel sheets you often will not need a scraper at all, just flex the plate. Keep this for the stubborn ones: large flat bottoms, PETG that has bonded a little too enthusiastically, and anything printed on a smooth plate.
